Palmer Ranch

Palmer Ranch, a 80,000 acre area was purchased by Mrs Betha Potter Palmer in the early 1900’s. This was the beginning of Sarasota’s real estate boom after Mrs Palmer declared Sarasota “The most beautiful place in Florida”. After her death in 1918, much of her land has been preserved as State parks, and nature preserves. In 1972 the remaining 12,000 acres of the estate were purchased and developed into a 7,000+ acres of masterplan association modeled on a contemporary planning and environmental sensitivity consideration. The community has 90 subdivisions covering 60 square miles. This very popular neighborhood is located South of Clark Road and west of I-75. The community accommodates every level of living and budget – apartments, assisted-living facilities, single family homes and condos.
